Berserker
The Berserker is Chrono Odyssey's rage-powered melee class, "Relentless warriors, embodying unbridled fury on the battlefield", playable in the June 2025 closed beta with axes and chain blades and an ultimate that enters a full-rage state.
The Berserker is Chrono Odyssey's rage-powered melee class, "Relentless warriors, embodying unbridled fury on the battlefield" in Chrono Studio's words. It was one of the three classes playable in the closed beta of Jun 20 to 22, 2025: SpookyFairy's capture of the first minutes picks it at the class select ("All right, Berserker. Let's select."). Its weapons were axes and chain blades, which Icy Veins names chain blades, twin axes and battle axe; Chrono Studio has not published the names. Its ultimate, as previews described it, turned it into a full-rage state that shrugged off damage. Everything here describes that beta build; nothing newer has been played as of Oct 21, 2026. It is one of six Classes.

Role
The Berserker is the class for charging straight in. Kyle Clark of Noisy Pixel started with it because "charging straight into enemy lines sounded glorious", and found its "rage-powered moveset" could shred anything in reach, but that he kept taking stray hits while waiting for abilities to come back; the regeneration that kicks in mid-combat was what kept him standing (Noisy Pixel, Jun 13, 2025). Harry Alston of TheGamer chose the Berserker again for his longer preview, was "still figuring out new combos" after ten hours, and called the combat "otherwise excellent", his complaint being animations (TheGamer, Jun 23, 2025).
Weapons
The Berserker's three weapons are axes and chain blades. Chrono Studio has not published their names; Noisy Pixel calls the secondary weapon Clark used "dual axes", and Icy Veins' class guide, which reads the beta build, names and describes all three (Icy Veins, Mar 31, 2026):
| Chain blades | Quick and mobile, for closing gaps, with more reach than the axes; some skills cost health |
| Twin axes | Fast combos, mostly single-target, with speed bonuses and health regeneration |
| Battle axe | Slow, heavy hits, crowd control and the most area attacks |
A Berserker carries two of them and swaps in combat. In SpookyFairy's beta capture the Berserker reaches the tutorial camp and finds out mid-fight: "Oh, it's two weapons. All right, I'm just changing weapon," and later notes that each side holds a different weapon. Each weapon came with its own four skills and animations. See Weapons.
Rage and the full-rage ultimate
The Berserker fights on rage, and its ultimate is built around it. Every class had an ultimate in the beta; Noisy Pixel describes the Berserker's as temporarily shifting "into full-rage carnage, shrugging off damage and cleaving everything nearby." Chrono Studio has not described how the Berserker's rage fills in writing; the Swordsman built rage with basic attacks in the same beta (MassivelyOP). Like every class it also used stamina for dodging, sprinting and blocking.
Skills in the closed beta
In the beta each weapon had its own skill tree, leveled by fighting with that weapon, with up to four active abilities per weapon. SpookyFairy's Berserker opens one about twenty minutes in ("Master weapon skill"), and the screen shows a weapon's skill tree. Mastery points raised weapon damage, widened area effects or strengthened signature attacks, Noisy Pixel reported.
The Matrix: four paths per weapon
After the beta, Chrono Studio announced the Matrix System to replace those trees: four progression paths per weapon, twelve per class, where "primary skills and combat patterns change depending on the progression path" (Developer's Notes #5, May 7, 2026). Asked whether slow weapons will have super armor, the executive producer said the Matrix should let every weapon, "not just those with slower attack speeds", make the most of its strengths (Icy Veins, Feb 12, 2026). The Berserker's paths have not been published, as of Oct 21, 2026.
What changed after the beta
Chrono Studio's Developer's Notes #2 Part 2 (Jul 30, 2025) said the beta's classes lacked "distinct identity", that ranged classes were easier than melee ones, and that the three weapons of each class were unbalanced; every class will be re-evaluated with the Matrix (Steam). For a melee class that takes hits, the January 2026 changes matter too: stronger hit reactions, rechargeable HP potions on their own key, and Guard Crush when a block runs out of stamina (Developer's Notes #4, Jan 29, 2026). See Combat.
